Menos Ptolmai, Kiara's father, has been an Ambassador in the Atlantean diplomatic corps for several decades. In that time, he has been posted in far-flung regions without a recognized political status, such as the Caucasus region where he met Kiara's mother Viera and decided to take her as a wife -- which followed her people's custom, but was contrary to Atlantean life during the Second Era. Not being enamored with the Atlantean mores of living informally with partners for whatever time each may desire, the Caucasus traditions resonated with him enough to take them as his own. Once Menos and Viera became parents, he was transferred to the imperial country of Chungkuo, on the eastern shores of the Asian continent. Chungkuo, a politically organized and established country with diplomatic ties to Atlantis at that time, is where Kiara came of age. However, when deciding upon further academic study, Menos Ptolmai encouraged her to enroll at the Temple of Learning in Atlantis, her first subject of study chosen being jurisprudence. Despite his separation from his only child by distance, she regularly keeps in touch with both her parents via the Atlantean commnet, which stretches to countries as organized as Chungkuo, and she often seeks her father's advice -- sometimes, at Elisha Grey's behest, as he, along with many Atlanteans, consider Menos Ptolmai one of the most ethical diplomats that represent the continent. Menos Ptolmai's ability to interface with peoples from other cultures less advanced than Atlantis makes him an ideal resource for any information regarding peoples on other continents. He strives to be respectful of the cultures he contacts on behalf of the Atlantean Emperor and his Senate. He also considers Chungkuo to be his home.
